Hi, my name is Debbie Chun and I am the founder of Snack Treasures Hawaii LLC. After graduating from Moanalua High School in 1977, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition ( emphasis on business) from the University of Hawaii. Following university graduation, I secured a job with Spencecliff restaurants as an Assistant Manager at Top’s Beachwalk and Top’s Canterbury. It has always been my passion to work with children and teach them about food and nutrition and help them make wise food choices. In 1985, I accepted a School Food Service Manager position with the Department of Education and retired on August 1,2016. I thoroughly enjoyed working in concert with the school community. I thank God for allowing me to have a career I loved.
Food is on my mind most of the time…planning, purchasing, tasting….. I have great empathy for the overweight or obese. Gaining weight is an issue for me because I gain weight so easily. I am learning to eat a little and share the rest. When developing new cookies and other goodies, I try to stay away from hydrogenated oils and other trans fats but still try to keep a delicious flavor. Recent health studies have shown that butter is better than margarine and shortening, while coconut oil, which once was bad for the body is now good.
It is my mission to promote good health and nutrition for all of Hawaii’s families through healthful Snack Treasures Hawaii LLC.
Through the promotion of Snack Treasures Hawaii LLC, I hope to help spread the good news about Jesus Christ and let people know the love of God. Cornerstone Fellowship-Mililani Mauka, my church fellowship, had a project called Radical that helped to convince me to start Snack Treasures Hawaii LLC to raise funds for God’s ministries. There is a special place in my heart for the elderly, especially the shut-ins. I want to show all the lonely elderly and everyone that all they have to do is ADMIT they are sinners, BELIEVE that Jesus died for their sins and rose again and COMMIT their life to Jesus Christ. Simple as ABC. All Christians are promised a life in heaven for all eternity. Life on Earth is short and we need to save as many people as we can so we can all praise God together in heaven.
